Gareth Bale scored as Real Madrid started La Liga life without Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane with a comfortable win over Getafe.
With no replacement signed for Ronaldo, Asensio, Bale and Karim Benzema started up front and they could have scored more – despite having just three shots on target.
Bale hit the bar with a diving header before turning home Marco Asensio’s cross to wrap up the win.Asensio hit the post in the second half as Real cruised without adding a third.
Getafe’s only shot on target came in injury time, when Angel’s volley was easily held by Keylor Navas. The Costa Rican started instead of Thibaut Courtois, with the summer signing from Chelsea an unused substitute.
Madrid won 2-0 against Getafe.
