The 2019-20 Ghana football season appears OVER after government gave the clearest indication on the future of the current campaign.
Presidential advisor on health Dr Nsiah Asare has advised a cancellation of the current campaign following the corona virus outbreak.
I would have personally wished the football season is truncated. It will be fair to end this season (2019/20) and begin a new season if only the Ghana Football Association will agree to it. He said.
Given Dr Nsiah’s leadership role in the current government regarding Covid-19, its fair and safe to argue and imply that the season is completely over in what would appear a massive slap on the back of the Ghana Football Association.
Ghana FA boss Kurt Okraku, who is on a positive drive to ensure the restart of football in the West African nation, may be left disappointed after the comment from the presidential advisor on health.
Mr. Okraku has shown leadership after holding talks with several stakeholders in the midst of the pandemic.
But all efforts in ensuring the restart of football appear to be skippered by the posture of the government.
The government does not appear to care about the football economy after easing restrictions for non-contact sports.
The Ghana FA has set June 30 to determine the future of the 2019-20 calendar years.
