Kimi Raikkonen could switch and postpone retirement plans.

Kimi is set for a sensational switch which will keep him in Formula One for at least one more year, according to reports in his native Finland.

Rumours circulated last week that Ferrari told Raikkonen they would not be retaining his services beyond the current season at the Italian Grand Prix.

The Finn was unable to stave off the challenge of Lewis Hamilton, who went on to extend his gap at the top of the Drivers’ Championship in Monza.

Although there has yet to be any official announcement from Ferrari, they are expected to soon confirm Sauber’s Charles Leclerc as Sebastian Vettel’s new team-mate for 2019.

And that has led to many supporters expecting Raikkonen, 38, to call time on his brilliant career.

Raikkonen will could swap places with Leclerc and drive for Sauber next season. The former world champion would then move behind the scenes into management with the Swiss team, as well as receiving part-ownership.
